Saint Charles Medical Foundation’s 2025 Back-to-School Initiative in Douala

A Small But Vital Initiative

On the 14th of September 2025, St. Charles Medical Foundation (SCMF) carried out a Back-to-School Outreach Program in Douala, Cameroon. During this initiative, we distributed books, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, bags, and more to 15 internally displaced (IDP) pupils seeking refuge.

Our goal is to reach as many IDP children as possible.

By supporting us, you are not just providing a pen or a bag; you are offering hope and a chance for a better future to a generation of children whose lives have been disrupted by conflict. A big thank you to our donors and funders for making this possible.

Helping Children In Crisis

Since 2016, the civil war in Cameroon has led to the death of at least 6,000 people and forced 1.1 million to flee their homes.

Impact on Children

The event kicked off with a welcome speech from the outreach coordinator who acknowledged the participants’ experiences and called for resilience and hope.

The crisis has had a devastating effect on children:

  • Over 390,000 children under 5 suffer from acute malnutrition and urgently need treatment.
  • More than 246,000 children in the Northwest and Southwest remain out of school due to violence, displacement, and fear (Cameroon Education Cluster/UNICEF).
  • Over 2,200 schools have been closed or destroyed since 2017.
  • 71% of children need humanitarian assistance to access education, health services, and mobility aids.

Let Us Make a Difference

At Saint Charles Medical Foundation, we believe education is a right, not a privilege.
By supporting our initiatives, you are helping children rebuild their future, gain hope, and dream again.

Thank you for your continued donations and support. Together, we can change more lives.
