Tumenta Rose shares how Saint Charles Medical Foundation’s vocational training support is helping her rebuild stability, dignity, and hope through hair dressing training in Baba I, Cameroon.
Training: Hair Dressing
Programme: Youth Vocational Training Programme

My name is Tumenta Rose, I am 21 years old and come from Baba I village in the North West Region of Cameroon. I am the first child in a family of four, and part of a larger polygamous household with a total of fifteen siblings. I lost my mother when I was 14 years old, and from that moment, I had to raise myself with no support from my stepmothers.
\nGrowing up, life was extremely difficult. As a small-scale farmer, I could not earn enough to send myself or my siblings to school or to learn a skill. To survive, we worked on people’s farms just to have food to eat. The ongoing civil war made our situation even worse, leaving us with very few opportunities and no stability.
\nWhen I heard about the Saint Charles Medical Foundation (SCMF) Vocational Training Programme, I applied and was blessed to be selected. I am now undergoing a two-year training in Hair Dressing, a skill that is giving me hope, dignity, and a real chance to transform my life.
\nThis opportunity is not just for me. It is for my entire family. SCMF has greatly impacted my life. When I graduate and start my own workshop, I plan to support my siblings, take care of my mother’s memory, and train and employ other young people who are facing the same struggles I once faced.
\nI am truly grateful to SCMF for restoring hope in my future.
Support more lives through Saint Charles Medical Foundation.
